Click |
The process of clicking an online advertisement to the advertiser's destination. |

Conversion Rate |
The percentage of visitors who take a desired action. |
|
CPA - (Cost per Account) |
Online advertising model where payment is made only when a sale is completed. |
|
CPC (Cost per Click) |
The amount paid for a click. |
|
CPM |
Cost per 1,000 impressions. |
|
CTR (Click Through Rate) |
The average number of clicks on an advertisement per hundred ad impressions, expressed as a percentage. |

The transmission of computer-based messages over telecommunication technology. |

Email Marketing |
Offering products or services through an email. |
|
Hit |
A request of a single file from a server; or any ball placed in the field of play. |

Impression |
One instance of an advertisement being displayed. You never get over the first one. |

The act of buying or selling in a market. |

Meta-Tags |
Imbedded code that describes aspects of a website. |

Newspaper classifieds |
Ability to pay by the word and reach a limited number of potential customers. |

Activities that sell or attempt to sell products and services over the internet. |

Page View |
Single request to load a web page. |

Online advertising model where payment is made per qualifying click. |

PPL (Pay per Lead) |
Online advertising model where payment is made per qualifying lead generated (data collected). |

PPS (Pay per Sale) |
Online advertising model where payment is made per sale or transaction. |

The process of improving the volume or quality of traffic to website from search engines via "natural" ("organic" or "algorithmic") search results. |

Snail Mail |
Letter, stamp, postal service, a week; enough said. |

Stickiness |
The degree that a visitor stays on a web page; or the amount of pine tar on a bat. |
|
Submission |
Logging your website information with search engines; or being thoroughly defeated. |
|
Traffic |
The number of visitors or visits to a website; or the cause of most urban road rage. |
|
Unique Visitor |
Single instance of a visit to a web page in a fixed period of time (30 days is the default standard). |

URL |
Uniform Resource Locator; or how you find stuff on the internet. |
