content-marketing

In today’s world of technology, we have smart phones, smart televisions, smart computers, smart cars… you get the idea! With these various devices surrounding us every day comes endless access to all the information we could ever want or need to know. This is where your business can really take the opportunity to captivate their audience on a personal level and capitalize!

The World Wide Web is growing every second. There is a plethora of ways that your business can get in touch with your audience and let them know exactly who you are. Whether you are blogging, vlogging, advertising, engaging on social media, etc., one thing you should be sure of is that your content speaks to your company’s personality. Let’s dive into some of the things you can be doing to connect with your audience.

Tell A Good Story

In our growing smartphone society, people are seeking more meaningful connections through the digital platforms. Have you ever felt connected to a business because they let you into their day-to-day routine? It can really be something special. People love stories, so be sure to tell a good one! Getting an emotional response from your followers is something to aim for. Creating an emotional response will make it more likely for your followers to pass along your message to others.

Pay Attention to Detail

Next, let’s talk formatting. If you are sending out written content to your viewers, make it visually interesting! By breaking up text with things like bold formats, line breaks, and – punctuation – you can make it easier on the reader to follow along with your point without getting bored. If you are utilizing photographs or videography, using real photos from your real experiences is always more genuine than turning to stock imagery. Your customers and potential customers love to see the real faces behind the content.

Believe in Your Own Content!

This next point may be so obvious that you’ve missed it! One way to predict if your audience will be interested is to be sure that YOU are actually interested yourself. If you are not at least somewhat captivated by the message you are pushing, chances are your audience won’t be interested either. If the topic you are sharing is leaning toward the dry side, you can research the topic further until you find more fascinating information. Speaking of entertainment, it can also be a great idea to get inspiration from OTHER entertaining sources. Adding personality to your content doesn’t always mean adding YOUR personality, but finding a voice for your business that rings true to your passion for it.

Use Relevant Language

While all of the information above is critical to your brand’s personality, let’s focus on where the root of that comes from. It can be effective to write like you talk! According to author Whitney Ryan, “Stay true to who you are, and don’t try to fit someone else’s writing style to your own. We’ve all got our unique voices, so make sure you’re using yours. Always”. With that being said, it’s crucial that you also understand how your audience speaks. When you and your audience are both speaking the same “language”, it can create a lasting trust and the feeling that you appreciate your followers’ point of view.

Have Something to Say

All in all, make sure you have something to say; believe in what you are putting out to the world. If you find yourself reiterating information that is already out there, bring a unique perspective on that information that truly engages people. However, saying something new or different is one of the easiest ways to incorporate an abundance of personality.
