new year goals

As we get closer to the end of the year, now is a great time for businesses to reflect on their marketing and business results from the last year and set goals for the upcoming year. Here are five things you can do to amp up your marketing in 2020.

1. Evaluate
While it is always a good idea to do some internal evaluations, you can also send out a survey or schedule quick meetups with your clients to determine what worked well and what didn't in the past year. Getting feedback from your customers is a great way to gain insight into your customers' experience and learn what you're doing well and what can be improved on. Most importantly, it will give you the information and data you need to make educated changes in the new year.

2. Set Goals
No matter the industry you're in, things always seem to get busier at the end of the year. In the flurry of the holidays, it can be hard to look more than one or two steps ahead. But now is the time to start looking forward and setting goals. Where do you want your business to be by the end of next year? As a business owner, it is easy to get bogged down with the details fo running a business but now is the time to take a step back to examine the big picture.

3. Say Thank You
This is another practice that is easy to overlook in the flurry of the holidays and at the start of a new year. Simply expressing your appreciation — for employees and clients alike — can go a long way in maintaining relationships through the new year. A personalized message or a coordinated end-of-the-year event is a great way to solidify the client relationships you've already made.

4. Ask For Help
This does not make you a bad business owner — it makes you a smart one! If there are areas you've dropped the ball in during the past year, now is the time to ask for help so you can improve in 2020. Are you struggling to keep your website up-to-date? Hire a website management company. Do you keep putting off making that corporate video? Look into video production companies near you. Whatever it is — make adjustments now so you can set up your game in the new year!

5. Get Organized
While it's great to spend time gathering feedback and setting goals at the end of the year, none of that will matter if you come back to the office after the holidays without a plan in place. Take some time now to get yourself organized so you're ready for some major business success in 2020.
