However, make sure the content on your homepage is simple and direct. Don't bury important information at the bottom of your homepage, where visitors are more likely to miss it.
- Clean up your main navigation menu. The navigation menu helps direct visitors to the interior pages of your website. Common items in a navigation menu can include pages like About Us, Services, Resources, and Contact just to name a few. Look at each item in your menu and evaluate whether it still serves a purpose. For example, are there pages in your main menu that only a handful of visitors access each year? Is there a page you want visitors to see, but it's buried deep in your menu, making it difficult to find? Think about how visitors navigate your website and optimize your menu to fit their browsing patterns.
- Get rid of old content. Evaluate all of the written content on your website for accuracy and relevancy. Does your website's copy reflect your company's current offerings? Have you added new members to your team? When was the last time you posted on your company's blog page? Outdated content might make visitors think the website has been abandoned. It's time to clean house and replace old content with fresh, relevant content that resonates with visitors.
- Incorporate imagery and video into your website. Your website is the most important component of your marketing arsenal — why not enhance it with photos and videos? In today's market, the best websites are not only simple to navigate but highly visual and engaging. Use imagery, video, and supporting graphics to tell your story on your website.
